About the Session:
Living Life to the Full is an evidence-based mental health promotion program designed to make CBT more broadly available by offering fun, interactive group sessions in community settings. CMHA Ontario has adapted the program for older adults, and more recently for isolated older adults in a caregiving role. Recognizing that language and culture can create barriers that contribute to social isolation among seniors and reduce access to mental health care, CMHA Ontario is also creating new adaptations of Living Life to the Full for French- and Chinese-speaking participants. But the adaptation process involves much more than simply translating a text from one language to another. CMHA Ontario has adopted an authentic community engagement model that involves community members in planning, creating, evaluating and sustaining the adaptation. This presentation will describe the engagement process and share key lessons about providing inclusive services for diverse populations.
